Most people who are not happy with their bodies or their bodies appearance are not happy most of the time because they are over weight or fat to put it bluntly. So they decide they need to lose weight and they will go on a Diet Plan or invest in some diet pills that promise them that they will lose weight.
Now the diet plan or the diet pills will lose them some weight and normally that weight is water, there is a lot of water in the human body and of course that water has a weight. So if we lose some of that water then we will effectively lose weight. This can be very impressive on the scales, but it won’t be long term weight loss. As soon as the diet plan is finished or the pills have stopped being popped then the water will return and so will the weight.
The other thing that tends to happen in this situation is that we lose weight through muscle mass loss, the very thing that burns fat. The only thing that might not be lost is actual fat, so again when the plan or pills are over the weight piles back on and a lot of the time more than before the diet was started.
This is why it is best to forget about weight, don’t go for the scales to measure your success in getting the body you want. Instead look at losing inches from your body instead of weight. The body has a lot of water content we know that and there is a reason for this, our bodies need it. We need our muscle, not only to function properly but also to burn fat and keep it at bay.
So it stands to reason that we should be looking at reducing our Body Fat and not our body weight. Now obviously if you are only 5 feet tall and you weigh 500 lbs then that weight has got to come down. But if you are a bit overweight, your clothes are tight or there are some that don’t fit any more then you don’t necessarily need to lose weight but lose inches by building muscle and burning fat.
This can be done by looking at your present diet and adjusting it if you are consuming to much and are eating the wrong kinds of food. Make your diet consist of the right kind of food and the right amount of it, this will stop any more gains and will probably result in some losses. Then start to work those muscles through Exercise and this will in turn burn fat. This may even gain you some weight because muscle weighs more than fat, but it will lose you some inches and that is what will change the appearance of your body into one that you are happy with instead of being unhappy about your body.
Think of it this way, we first realise that we are not happy with our bodies through appearance. Our clothes may feel tight, we don’t like the size or shape we see in the mirror or someone may comment that we have put on weight, not because they have weighed us but because they see it visually. So why do we then go straight to the scales to find out that we are bigger than we want to be, we can see it in the mirror. We don’t want to really lose weight it is size we want to lose. If you had a body like Elle Macpherson would you care if you weighed 140 lbs or 150 lbs, I am pretty sure you would not be worried about the weight.
So it is inches that count not weight, use a measuring tape and the mirror as your guide to success not the scales. Eat healthy and Exercise to build lean muscle mass and the fat will burn away and stay away, it won’t be able to stick around because the muscle will eat it. Then you will get comments that will be asking you if you have lost weight, but you will know that it is inches you have lost and not weight.
