What is it, well it is my way of saying fizzy drinks cause unwanted fat. Now is this true or is it just a load of old bubbles. Does pop make you fat?
Soft Drink, Pop, Soda, Liquid Candy, Fizzy Pop or Fizz Bombs, what ever you call them, they are highly consumed. They are a huge industry in themselves. That is why if some research that comes out says they are bad for you, the drinks companies waste no time in reacting with their own research that says these drinks are OK.
Some of the research that has been done on these drinks have reported that they can cause obesity, nutritional depletion and tooth decay. Type 2 diabetes has also been linked to some of these drinks, but by far the biggest subject of these drinks is whether they are a big contribution to the obesity problem that seems to be getting bigger (excuse the pun).
I am not a scientist so I can offer no real proof that this is true and the companies that make these drinks are not going to agree with the research that deems their products bad.
So what do you do?
Well one thought that had crossed my mind was that if we look at the last several years, there has been a surge in the production of these drinks, there are so many different kinds now, different colors, different names and different flavours. There are a vast array of energy drinks and alcopops, these are all backed up by inventive and cool advertising campaigns, that encourage us to consume these drinks.
So more people are obviously drinking these cool drinks!
Now the other part of the thought, isn’t it also apparent that over the last several years we as the human race have been getting fatter and fatter. Is this just coincidence or connection.
I am not sure, it is just a thought.
Here is a little test you can do to figure it out for yourselves. Think of all the people you know, family and friends, work colleagues and anyone else you can think of. Now all the ones that are a healthy weight for their height ask them how many fizzy drinks they consume on average a week. Do the same with all the ones that you would consider to be overweight for their height.
If all the healthy weight people don’t seem to drink very many soda pops and all the overweight people do, then may be their is some truth in Fizzy Fat. If there doesn’t seem to be a pattern then may be there is no truth in the weight gaining stories of Pop.
Not a scientific experiment I know, but sometimes simple is best.
