Diet Truth

Is there anyone that will tell you the diet truth, you see behind all the weight loss products and programs there is one main thing that is gained by many and it is not fat, the biggest gain is money. Those weight loss pills = money. That weight loss workout DVD = money. The celebrity fad diet = money.

Yes the weight loss industry is a huge one and the reason for this is that it makes masses of money. So is the truth told to us or is it masked over in favor of profit. Well I think profit is the major factor in the weight loss industry. There are even stories that force information is given out, just to make more profit and it is also said that some governments are involved in giving this force information. How true that is I don’t really know, but it makes you wonder.

So you have to draw on your own experience and mine tells me that fad diets do not work. I have seen family and friends go on the newest fad diet that all the celebrities say they are using and end up weighing more than they did before they started. They all lost weight in the beginning, but as soon as they went back to their normal eating they put the weight back on and some. Anyone that has tried dieting this way will know this to be true. The worse thing about fad diets is that you can lose muscle mass whilst basically depriving yourself and muscle is what burns fat.

There are a lot of weight loss programs that are rubbish to and just do not work long term. But that said there are many programs that work well, if they are followed and stuck to and they all follow the same kind of principle, healthy food and exercise. There is no getting away from the fact that a healthy diet coupled with a good amount of exercise is what will keep your body a healthy weight. We can still eat some of the rubbish we like, such as junk food and sweets, but we have to be realistic and make them treats and not the normal diet.

There are people that go on health kicks and start to eat a healthier diet and start to go to the gym, but they give up either because they find it to hard or because they are not seeing results. First off, we don’t have to make our exercise to hard to handle and as long as we include some treats in our diets we should be able to maintain the healthy side of it. Secondly, we will not see results straight off, it takes time. If we are very overweight, we did not get this way overnight, it took time to accumulate that much fat, the same goes for losing weight, it is better to lose it gradually and then it will stay off.

There is one major factor to keep in mind and that is muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are exercising then you will be gradually gaining muscle mass, which in turn will burn fat, this means you may put on weight. So forget weight and the scales and let the mirror and tape measure do the talking.

Forget the fads, yes use a program if you are happy with how they structure it, programs can be good for keeping us motivated, but mainly change the foods you eat (mostly, don’t cut out all the treats) and exercise and you will get results in time.
