Weight Loss Exercise
So is cycling a weight loss exercise, can it really help us shed those pounds and trim those inches from our bodies. I believe it can do both those things, well actually I know it can because I cycle several miles two times a week.
Cylcing is a great exercise for toning the muscles and trim the fat from our frames. Another thing about cycling is that it is such great fun, you don’t even realize you are exercising. OK so that last little bit might not be completely true. But lets look at it this way, cycling is a bit like walking and totally different from running.
Let me explain when we are walking normally it is different from walking for exercise, for exercise or weight loss we have to up the pace with walking to get our heart rates up, this way we will burn off some of those unwanted calories. Cycling is the same, you can ride a bike quite casually but when it comes to cycling for exercise and weight loss you need to up your pace and get those muscles working and the heart rate pumping.
If you can throw in a few hills to climb on that bike all the better, they really put the pressure on (don’t even think about getting off and pushing), you can make it. The other good thing about a hill is the free ride you get on the way back down again, a little chance for a well earned rest.
Cycling also has another tiny advantage over walking and running, you get to see the same great scenery but you cover more ground in the same time frame, so you see more of it.
So there you go, why not give cycling a try it has been good to me, the results show and not only in the legs as you might think but also a big difference in the abdominal area and even the arms and shoulders.

Just as a side note I will mention that if you haven’t cycled for a long time then you may get a bit saddle sore the first few times, it does pass though and also it is a good idea to have a check up with your Doctor before you start and get their advice.
