Our kids are probably the main concern in our lives, we love them and we want the best for them in all they do in life. Do we ever think about our children and obesity, do we do enough to make sure they do not become over weight and into a vulnerable position with their health.
There are many factors that can cause our kids to become overweight and obviously the wrong kind of food and to much of it coupled with little or no exercise is the right recipe for this path. So it is up to parents to make sure we guide them to the right lifestyle, this can be easier said than done in modern times, with our own daily schedules being over busy and our own lifestyles not being as healthy as they should be, it is easy to forget that we are supposed to be teaching our kids the right lifestyle choice.
Kids these days more than ever are left to decide what they are going to eat and without the right guidance and supervision are going to go for the tasty junk they see advertised on TV, who can blame them. While watching TV or sitting in front of their computer screens their bodies are missing out on important exercise, we can forget to make sure they are getting enough exercise, after all we are busy just trying to keep them in the next expensive sneakers and computer games. Lifestyles have changed and not necessarily for the better, not just our kids, but we also lack in the right kinds of food and lack of exercise.
We have to remember that from when our kids are born, we as parents are their teachers, what we do has consequences on their development. They do as we say and do, if we lead an unhealthy lifestyle the chances are that is the way they will go forward with their life. If we exercise regularly and encourage them to do so at an early age then they have more chance of keeping it up as they grow and develop in life, if we eat a healthy diet and encourage them to do so then they are more likely to sustain that healthy diet, yea it is fine for us and our kids to have the odd Mc Donalds or such like, but how many of our kids are feasting on it day in and day out. Do we really know how much unhealthy food they are really consuming and do we ever encourage them to exercise instead of sit in front of a screen playing games.
If we are not happy with our weight and we know that we should cut down on the amount of food we eat and get some exercise, if we have got to a stage that our weight problem is causing health issues, then do we really want our children to face this same problem in their future. If we think about it then of course the answer would be no, we don’t want our kids to suffer with their health because they have become obese. We owe it not only to ourselves but to our kids to make sure we try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, with a balanced diet that in includes good foods and a weekly routine that includes plenty of exercise, then we can pass on to them positive habits that will keep them healthy and fit throughout their life.
